Srinagar, December 05 (KNO) : Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik in a message sent out from SKIMS where he is admitted from last three days said that killing young, old, women and children with impunity, beating, torturing, vandalizing, arresting and humiliating people without the discrimination of age and gender and burning and blasting down residential houses are trademark of Indian democracy in Kashmir. “This colonial behavior of Indian state is responsible for pushing Kashmiris to the wall and forcing our youth to tread the path of ultimate sacrifice,” Malik said as per a statement issued to KNO. Meanwhile, JKLF leaders and activists along with people from different walks of life continued their candlelight protest against ongoing Indian aggression in Jammu Kashmir and held protests at Aanchar Soura, Chattabal and Budgam Kashmir today.
The call for this week long protest has been given by JRL on the occasion of the international human rights day. Leaders and activists from JKLF today gathered at Aanchar Soura, Nasrullah-Pora Budgam and Chattabal Srinagar and held peaceful candlelight protests against ‘growing and continuing human rights abuses by forces in Jammu Kashmir’. JKLF leaders along with scores of activists participated in today’s protest programs.Holding blazing candles and torches in their hands, protesters marched peacefully and raised slogans.A message from ailing Malik was also delivered to the participants of the protest programs. In his message, Malik said that “rulers and their forces are treating Jammu Kashmir as their conquered colony and this is why killing humans with impunity, arresting and caging down people of all genders and ages, beating, torturing, humiliating and vandalizing common citizens without the discrimination of gender and age, burning and blasting down residential houses, crops and fruit orchards have become a trade mark of Indian democracy in Jammu Kashmir.” He said that “villages in southern, northern and central districts of Kashmir have been turned into a battle ground where humanity is being trampled and humanness being subjected to worst dictatorship of Army, police, SOG and other forces.”
Citing example of Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Muhammad Sheikh of Athoora Pulwama who is now admitted in Soura medical Institute after being beaten and tortured ruthlessly by Army, Malik said that “the house of this young Kashmiri was raided by Indian army from Koeil Camp during intervening night of 3rd and 4th December 2018. Tariq’s family including his small kids was locked in a room and he was beaten ruthlessly by army men with sticks, Guns, Iron Rods and electric wires. He was abuse, kicked by military boots and punched by scores of army men who wanted him to record a forced confessional video.” Malik said that he refused and was tortured for about three hours. “A gun was placed in his hand and he was asked to pose and photographed with his index (Shadah) finger up like any militant. It was only when he lost his consciousness that army men left him alive. Relatives took him to Pulwama hospital where from he was referred to SKIMS where he is till now being treated for his multiple fractures in different organs,” he said.(KNO)
